beabadoobee Releases "Switchblade" | New Album 'Pylon' Out 9/18
beabadoobee has shared "Switchblade," the latest preview of her upcoming album, Pylon, due out September 18 via Dirty Hit and Interscope Records.
The new single follows last month's release of "Sun Has Set" and offers another glimpse into what promises to be Beatrice Laus' most emotionally expansive project to date. Built around themes of uncertainty and self-preservation, "Switchblade" explores the tension between standing your ground and walking away, without attempting to offer easy answers.
Rather than searching for certainty, the song embraces the emotional gray areas that often accompany personal growth. Through introspective lyrics and dynamic instrumentation, beabadoobee examines vulnerability, self-doubt, and the complicated process of learning to trust yourself.
According to Laus, Pylon centers on accepting that difficult emotions don't simply disappear. Instead, the album reflects the idea that insecurity, confusion, and setbacks are all essential parts of understanding who you are. Those experiences, she says, ultimately became the inspiration behind the record's songwriting.
Arriving as the follow-up to her UK No. 1 album This Is How Tomorrow Moves, Pylon showcases a broader musical palette while continuing the deeply personal approach that has defined beabadoobee's work. The album moves through contrasting emotions—from love and joy to loneliness and frustration—capturing the unpredictability of life without trying to simplify it.
"Switchblade" is the second song released from the album, following the well-received lead single "Sun Has Set," which debuted alongside a music video directed by Jake Erland, Laus' longtime creative collaborator.
Pylon will be released on September 18, 2026.
