Currents and ERRA Bring Tour to Tempe

Kaelyn Higgs

The Currents + ERRA tour came with the energy for Tempe. Starting the night off, AVIANA got the crowd moving to their blend of Swedish Metal and new wave techniques. The band portrays themselves with different personas, however the identity of the members stay hidden behind their eccentric masks. The lead singer, Joel Holmqvist, is truly a masker at his craft. His vocals are so strong and unique. AVIANA was a great way to open the night for the incoming bands.

Caskets followed, with their alternative metal sound. Hailing from Leeds in Britain, they have a very different edge than most alternative bands you might come across here in the states. The crowd seemed to be well versed with Caskets, singing their songs throughout their whole set!

Currents entered the stage next with what seemed like fireworks beneath them. Truly some of the most impressive vocals and musicians playing metal. Currents blended their melodic verses with their breakdowns beautifully, with many mosh pits forming throughout the set. Along with moshing, crowd surfers had the attention of everyone! Not only did Currents sounds great, they looked even better with their stage set up and light show. At certain points the members almost blended with the crowd, moving and jamming constantly!

To end the evening, ERRA conquered the stage. With releasing their recent album “Silence Outlives the Earth” this past March, everyone was chanting their songs along with them. Their progressive metal core sound was captivating, along with their constant movements and visuals as well. Fans young and old could be seen waving their arms high in the air, and head-banging to their breakdowns. ERRA made sure the crowd went home feeling rejuvenated and empowered. With deep meanings to their songs and crazy techniques, it’s hard not to become captivated by this band!
